He is sick but does not know it yet. Life can be interesting when you are having fun and dabbling. The sacred, matrimonial bed, in symbolism, was not always sacred.
He had to struggle to find himself and his way, and sometimes, it gets difficult and overwhelming. One redeeming quality was his children. They are the fruit to will and tell his story after he is long gone.
Sometimes, never quite settled. He looked for himself. His identity is in all sorts of places, especially places he had no business in. He is young but an older man with a little chip on his shoulder, never quite settled with things and his life, but he is coasting along.
The diagnosis. He has not received it, but in time he will. He will go through a rough patch and will need support from his wife and family. His marriage is like an open, professional marriage. Their kids keep them together. Sometimes when you have been together this long, familiarity keeps you together, not love, not in the beat of a heart, just familiarity in what was once there.
His relationship with his wife is steady, not always strong, but steady. Her attention is elsewhere. And things are happening for her, and she, too, wants to shine. To celebrate her work and what she is doing aside from the marriage and the kids.
But a storm is coming. They will be tested and will be forged together. But life has a way of bringing you to the beginning. A place where you started. A place where things are hopeful and full of possibility.
But for now, a change of wind is coming, new dynamics are at play, and new tests will soon begin.
