India Arie is the songbird whose cage was rattled both by life and the circumstances of life. She is someone who often tells herself she got it, but oftentimes not. She is a special songbird who has a beautiful song and message only if people will listen.
Her Grammy thing was a setback. It was not how she imagined her, but that was a lesson, for her to come out fully in her life not as a beautiful package caged bird, but as herself.
There is joy and laughter in living as yourself and in reveling in all things that make you shine. That once she embraces all of herself and those parts that hurt her, she will be in a better place to soar.
Her career has been so and so. It is something she wanted to soar but she has some of that, but the full weight of that stardom may be too much for her and she might collapse under the weight of becoming the impossible black, and that is too much for anyone to carry.
India is a gentle soul. She has a gentle spirit and a way of expressing herself in her music. She wants to celebrate blackness and love, but sometimes not all are with that, like going back to Africa.
She likes nature and it is one way to connect for her. She likes Spring and loves her creations. She is in transition, a sort of timekeeper, recordkeeper and her body knows her history fully well.
But as of late, she is beginning to embrace all that history, that knowing as a way of being. This time she is beginning to feel and that is the start of her lesson and the possibilities that await her.
She is truly a glory to look at.
